From the ‘Fears’ series Artist Irina Kotova created the autobiographical ‘Fears’ series whilst going through a difficult period in her life as she battled a serious illness. The artist explores her fears, faces them head-on, names them and paints them so as not to be afraid. Fear number 3: “This is the fear of a mastectomy – a surgical operation to remove the breast – one of the stages in the treatment of breast cancer.”
